Fishing has been on fire here on Calcasieu Lake and continues to get better!
Lots of trout are being caught right now! The ship channel bite is on! Also,
catching good on topwater lures early in the morning on reefs in the lake. We
are also catching fish really good on plastics and live mullet in the channel
right now, too. This past Tuesday Capt. Mark and his group caught there limit of
45 trout on topwater baits by 9:00 in the morning on reefs in the lake.  Some of
the trout weighing up to 5 pounds. Most averaging in the 2 pound range.
Wednesday and Thursday of this past week, we had the pleasure of fishing with
one of the greats and world renowned professional fisherman Bill Dance! He came
down to film a show with us that will air sometime next year. Capt. Matt had the
pleasure of pointing Bill Dance in the right direction and putting him on fish,
so he could make a great show and have fun. In two days we caught over 100
trout, 30 of those 100 trout were in the 3-5 pound range. We concentrated on
fishing the points and drop offs in the ship channel on the south end towards
the jetties. We caught all fish on plastics using 3/8 oz. Jig heads. Believe me
it didn't take long for Bill to catch on to this Calcasieu Lake channel fishing,
Bill can fish! While Bill and his crew got to enjoy the great fishing Calcasieu
